Blackout protection is a property-level electrical design, not a feature unlocked by owning a battery. The inverter, backup gateway, protected circuits and starting loads all decide what remains powered when the grid disappears.

Essential-load backup usually covers lights, refrigeration, internet and selected power points. Whole-home backup can be convenient, but large air-conditioners, ovens, pumps and EV chargers may still need automatic load control.
Usable kWh determines duration; inverter kW and surge capability determine what can start and run together. Ask the installer for a documented backup power limit, not a vague promise that the battery does backup.
Solar can refill a battery during an outage only when the system supports backup solar operation. Cloudy weather, minimum reserve and overnight use should be included in the design.

Frequently asked questions
No. Some installations are grid-connected only unless a compatible backup gateway and protected-circuit design are added.
Sometimes, but the inverter, compressor starting current, phase arrangement and other simultaneous loads must all be checked by the installer.
There is no universal figure. A higher reserve improves outage readiness but leaves less capacity for daily bill reduction.
