Plain-English website terms

Terms of use.

Compare is here to help Australians research products, understand trade-offs and ask better questions before buying. These terms explain what the website provides and what it does not.

01

Accepting these terms

These terms apply when you access or use compare.techmanpat.com.au, its questionnaires, catalogues, comparison tools and product profiles. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

02

General information only

Compare provides general information and editorial commentary for Australian consumers. It does not provide electrical, engineering, financial, legal, safety, medical or other professional advice. Questionnaire results and recommendations are planning guides, not site inspections, designs, quotations or guarantees that a product will suit your property or circumstances.

Use a suitably qualified professional where installation, electrical work, network design, safety, structural work or regulatory approval is involved.

03

Accuracy, dates and product changes

We aim to use reliable manufacturer, distributor, retailer, government and other relevant sources. However, products, specifications, firmware, compatibility, warranties, subscriptions, prices and Australian availability can change without notice. Information may contain errors, omissions or regional differences.

Each product page should be read with its verification date and source links. Confirm the exact Australian model, current terms and final configuration with the manufacturer, retailer, service provider or installer before purchasing.

04

Facts, opinions and recommendations

Manufacturer-sourced facts and our opinion are identified separately. Our opinions reflect the research, methodology and information available at the time. A recommendation is not a manufacturer claim, award, endorsement or promise of performance.

Products with unknown information do not receive positive scoring credit for that information. A product may be excluded by compatibility checks even when it is otherwise a good product.

05

Corrections and brand updates

We welcome good-faith corrections from manufacturers, distributors, retailers, installers and readers. Please identify the exact product and statement, explain the requested change and provide a current Australian manufacturer page, datasheet or similarly reliable source.

We will review credible requests and may correct, clarify, annotate or retain the content depending on the available evidence. Submitting a request does not guarantee a particular wording, ranking or recommendation. Editorial opinions remain TechManPat's independent view.

06

Prices, retailers and external links

Displayed prices are generally retail prices, planning allowances or point-in-time observed prices, as labelled. They are not live quotes or promises that a retailer will sell at that price. Installation costs are indicative and can vary materially.

External websites are operated by third parties. We do not control their content, stock, pricing, privacy practices, products or services. Check the seller, warranty, returns and Australian support arrangements before purchasing.

07

Retail links, samples and commercial relationships

Some robot-vacuum and robot-mower purchase links may be affiliate links, meaning TechManPat may earn a commission from a qualifying purchase at no extra cost to you. A local retailer may also pay for an enabled retailer placement. Commercial links are labelled at the relevant button, use direct retailer destinations and never change catalogue inclusion, compatibility filters, recommendation scores or ranking order. Ordinary evidence links remain independent product sources.

Battery profiles can display an optional product quote form. Every request goes to TechManPat first. By submitting one, you permit TechManPat to manually forward the stated details to the named brand or its authorised Australian installer. A brand only receives leads when TechManPat forwards them, and TechManPat may charge the brand for that access. This does not alter catalogue inclusion, compatibility filters, recommendation scores or ranking order.

A lead form is not a quote, acceptance, endorsement or promise that the brand or installer will contact you, offer particular pricing or accept the job. Any resulting supply or installation agreement is between you and the third party. TechManPat may also review, receive, borrow or work with products and manufacturers; relevant relationships should be disclosed and do not prevent fair criticism.

08

Safety and professional installation

Some compared products involve mains electricity, batteries, moving blades, security systems, charging equipment or installation work. Follow manufacturer instructions and Australian requirements. Never treat a comparison result as permission to carry out work that requires a licensed or qualified professional.

Parents and carers remain responsible for supervising children and pets around operating equipment. Security products reduce some risks but cannot guarantee prevention, detection, identification or uninterrupted recording.

09

Permitted use and intellectual property

You may use the website for personal research and may share links to its pages. Search engines and AI services may index and cite publicly available pages in accordance with the website's robots and citation guidance.

Unless permitted by law or approved in writing, you may not reproduce substantial parts of the catalogue, republish TechManPat editorial content as your own, bypass technical restrictions, interfere with the website or use automated access in a way that disrupts the service.

Product names, logos and images may belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and comparison.

10

Availability and changes to the website

We may add, change, correct, remove or discontinue content, features and categories at any time. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access, permanent availability of any page, or preservation of a previous recommendation.

11

Liability and rights that cannot be excluded

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TechManPat is not responsible for loss arising from reliance on general website information, third-party content, purchasing decisions, product performance, installation work or interruption of the website.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

12

Electricity-plan estimates

Electricity-plan, solar, battery, EV and VPP results are deterministic planning estimates based on the answers, interval data, tariff snapshot and assumptions shown. They are not financial advice, a guaranteed saving, a retailer quote or a promise that a plan is the cheapest available. Rates, eligibility, meter requirements, distributor rules, credits and VPP terms can change.

CSV analysis requires a temporary verified-email session, but the raw file is processed locally in the browser and is not retained by TechManPat Compare. Confirm the final offer and eligibility directly with the retailer before switching.

13

Changes, governing law and contact

We may update these terms by publishing a revised version and changing the date above. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and applicable Commonwealth laws.
