01 · Household fit

Who and what comes with you?

This is more useful than asking whether you want a hatch or SUV.

Maximum budget before on-road costs
Seats you genuinely need
Child seats used at once
Bulky things that must fit

Always take the real item to a test drive. Boot litres cannot describe the opening or shape.

WLTP is not your motorway range

Weather, speed, hills, tyres and cabin heating change range. We show the official figure separately from a conservative planning allowance and label the evidence basis.

Peak charging is not charging time

A high peak may last briefly. The time from 10 to 80%, route reliability and battery preconditioning are more useful on a road trip.

Boot litres can mislead

Opening width, floor height, wheel-arch shape and rear-seat angle decide whether a pram, crate or mobility aid fits. Test the real item.

Support is location-specific

A national warranty is less useful if the nearest authorised repairer is hours away. Parts wait times are shown only where credible Australian evidence exists.

Common does not mean inevitable

Known problems are evidence notes, not fake failure rates. Recalls, service bulletins and repeated reports need context and verification.

No exact match is normal

The finder ranks closest practical fits and explains the compromises. A wishlist item should not silently hide the otherwise best car.

Australian new-car scope

Only battery-electric passenger vehicles with official Australian manufacturer or authorised dealer support are included. Every profile links to the official Australian model page and explains the parent company behind the badge. Prices exclude on-road costs unless a drive-away basis is explicitly stated. Availability, specifications and delivery timing change.
