Local versus cloud
microSD is simple but can be stolen with the camera. A hub or NVR keeps footage elsewhere in the home. Cloud storage survives theft, but depends on internet and usually a plan.

Buying basics
microSD is simple but can be stolen with the camera. A hub or NVR keeps footage elsewhere in the home. Cloud storage survives theft, but depends on internet and usually a plan.
Battery cameras are easier to install and usually record motion events. Plug-in, hardwired or PoE cameras are better candidates for continuous recording.
“24/7 view” is not always 24/7 recording. Check power, storage capacity, plan tier and whether the exact Australian model supports it.
Person, vehicle and package labels reduce notification noise. They do not guarantee identification, prevent crime or detect every event.
Existing Australian chimes and transformers vary. A licensed electrician may be needed for new fixed wiring, transformer replacement or a new power point.
“Works with Apple, Google or Alexa” can mean anything from showing a live view to storing encrypted video. Check the exact function you expect.
Local storage can continue without internet if every required device still has power. Remote viewing and push alerts normally stop until connectivity returns.
Cover entrances and travel paths before buying more resolution. One pan-and-tilt camera still cannot watch two directions at exactly the same time.
Cameras can miss events and do not prevent every incident. Confirm storage, wiring, subscriptions and warranty for the Australian model.
