The short version
What you need to know.
- The 510W variant is rated at 24.4% efficiency in a roughly 2.09 m² footprint.
- Roof layout and inverter current and voltage limits still need installer checks.
- Australian price, stock, shipping and the exact CEC listing remain unverified here.
More watts where roof space is tight
Solar shopping gets interesting when the roof runs out before the wish list does. You might want more generation for an EV or a future battery, but the chimney, shade and awkward roof sections have other ideas. This is where panel efficiency earns its place in the conversation.
Trina’s 30 October announcement introduces the Australia-exclusive Vertex S+ G3 Full Black, model family NEG10R.25Z. The appeal is straightforward: an all-black finish and up to 510W from a residential-size panel. The release still describes a planned All Energy Australia unveiling, so treat this as announcement coverage. We have not tested the panel or verified Australian stock.

The footprint matters as much as the headline
The Australian product page lists 24.4% maximum efficiency and dimensions of 1842 × 1134 × 30 mm. That is roughly 2.09 square metres per panel. The matching datasheet puts its mass at 21.95 kg and identifies a dual-glass construction.
For an illustration, twelve 510W panels add up to 6.12kW of rated DC capacity and about 25.1 square metres of panel surface. That is our arithmetic, before gaps, setbacks or roof obstructions. It is not a roof design or a prediction of daily electricity production.
Ask for a roof drawing with the actual panel dimensions. A higher wattage model can be useful if it fits the available sections well. A neat rectangle on a brochure does not have to negotiate your skylight.
The all-black appearance may also matter if the panels face the street. Ask to see the exact model’s finish before paying a premium for looks. A tidy roof is a reasonable preference; it still needs a sensible installed price.
Check the panel and inverter together
The NEG10R.25Z datasheet covers 490–510W variants. In the 510W column, maximum-power current is 15.23A and open-circuit voltage is 40.00V under standard test conditions. Those numbers belong in the installer’s design checks, alongside string length and the inverter’s input limits.
Do not assume a panel upgrade works with an existing inverter because the connectors look familiar. Ask the installer to confirm current limits, voltage across operating temperatures and the proposed string arrangement in writing. Mixing panels into an existing array needs its own assessment.
The 510W rating is laboratory output. Shade, orientation, temperature and system losses affect what reaches your home. Get a site-specific generation estimate and its assumptions. Our solar, battery and charger compatibility guide helps organise that wider conversation.
What I would want on the quote
Trina advertises a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year power warranty. These cover different things. The datasheet points buyers to a specific Australia and New Zealand warranty supplement; we have not verified its complete terms. Ask for that document, the claims process and any labour or freight exclusions.
As checked on 1 November, Australian pricing, shipping dates and the exact model’s current CEC listing remain unverified here. Get the full model code, approval evidence, installed total and a delivery commitment before making plans around it.
My take: worth a place on the quote list if roof space or appearance matters. Compare the finished roof layout, expected generation and total cost with the alternatives. Our solar panel comparison is a starting point for those questions; this newly announced model has not been added to its catalogue.

Checked 1 November 2026 against Trina’s announcement, Australian product page and exact model datasheet. The 510W electrical column takes precedence over the datasheet’s inconsistent generic 500W/24% bullet. Manufacturer specifications are not independently measured performance. Complete Australia/NZ warranty supplement, pricing, stock, shipping and exact CEC listing remain unverified. Original Compare editorial illustration; no manufacturer photograph copied.
