The short version

What you need to know.

  • The current Australian offer is $3,999 with one battery or $4,299 with two.
  • The one-acre-per-charge claim applies to the dual-battery model, under favourable test conditions.
  • Confirm Australian nRTK availability and mapping features before buying; the published pages leave important caveats.

Start with the yard, then the spec sheet

A robot that takes mowing off the weekend list is an easy idea to like. Spending around four grand on one deserves a harder look. GOKO currently lists its M6 AWD at A$3,999 with a single battery and A$4,299 with two. The right question is whether it suits the awkward bits of your property.

This is a source-based buying guide, with no hands-on performance verdict. GOKO is promoting an Australian launch event at Sydney’s Curzon Hall on 13 October 2026, but Australian pre-orders opened on 17 August. The event is not the start of ordering. The current store says the first shipment batch goes out in October, with remaining orders from November. Confirm which batch your order actually joins.

The extra $300 changes the coverage claim

GOKO quotes up to 2,000 square metres per charge with one battery, or 4,000 square metres, roughly one acre, with two. Its coverage testing uses Efficient Mode at 25°C on a relatively flat lawn with few obstacles. That is a useful comparison point, but a yard full of trees, tight turns and thick grass needs breathing room.

Measure the grass you actually mow, rather than the whole block. Then work out whether the mower can travel between those areas. A second battery may be worthwhile for a larger lawn, but buying capacity you will never use is a fairly expensive way to decorate the shed.

03

Wire-free still needs a setup check

The hardware is promising on paper: four-wheel drive, a 420 mm cut and a claimed maximum slope of 42 degrees, or 90 per cent. That slope number is a manufacturer limit, not a guarantee on every wet bank. Ask for a demonstration covering your steepest section, narrow passage and lawn edge.

Navigation needs particular attention. The Australian page promotes antenna-free nRTK and a lifetime nRTK offer, while its FAQ says network RTK is currently available in parts of Europe and the US. It also says the included local RTK base station works globally. Those statements need clarification for an Australian address before assuming antenna-free operation.

Automatic mapping is marked as coming through a future software update. Buy on what the delivered software can do today. Ask about required sky visibility, mobile coverage and the mapping process, and keep the answer with your order.

Read the return conditions before the first mow

The 30-day returns headline deserves a proper read. GOKO’s change-of-mind conditions require an unused product, including no mowing, outdoor operation, installation, activation or device binding. Non-quality-related return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. Do not assume you can try it for a few weekends and send it back because your lawn proves difficult.

The written warranty lists 24 months for major components and excludes normal wear items such as blades and tyres. Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply separately and cannot be removed by a store policy. Ask where repairs are handled, how a bulky machine gets there and which replacement parts are stocked locally.

Who should have it on the shortlist?

For a larger or more complicated lawn, the M6 is worth comparing with other wire-free models. For a small, simple patch, first check whether a cheaper machine would do the same job. I would prioritise a convincing site demonstration, confirmed navigation support and clear after-sales arrangements over the biggest acreage figure. A mower should remove a chore without creating a new hobby in troubleshooting.
